THE CUT.

Thanks for your interest in donating your hair or encouraging others donate! Hair provided by generous volunteers like you will be used to provide essential education to disadvantaged girls. Campaigns are ongoing in India so girls donate their own hair and are able to contribute to their education and a brighter future. Hair Trade accepts donations from men and women all over the world!

GUIDELINES FOR DONATION

1. CLEAN

Hair must be clean, completely dry and free of any styling products before it is cut

2. PONYTAIL

Hair must be in a ponytail or braid before it is cut.

3. CUT HAIR

Minimum length is 8 inches measured from the top of the ponytail to shortest ends. There is no maximum length you can donate, the longer the better!

4. TIGHT BAND

Ensure the band is tight around the hair to keep the hair together after cutting. If the hair comes out of the band, it will not be usable!

5. BAG IT

Place the ponytail or braid inside of a plastic or zipper bag and then it is ready to mail.

6. MAIL IT

If you wish to receive an acknowledgment for your hair donation, please fill out the Hair Trade donation form, or write your name and e-mail address or mailing address on a sheet of paper and include inside the envelope.

Hair that is colored or permed is acceptable. Hair that has been bleached (i.e. highlighted) is not usable. If the hair was colored/bleached years ago and has grown out, you can donate.
Hair cut years ago is usable if it has been stored in a ponytail or braid.

If shaving your head, first divide hair into multiple ponytails to cut off and get the maximum length.
If your hair is layered, divided into multiple ponytails and then cut.
